You just received your mat and stuff for the playing field. -  aka the Field Setup Kit  (part number:  779696).

Now What?

Important -  the included CD [#9696] of building plans appears to be incorrectly labeled for the "Smart Move Challenge".   Not sure if this is fixed in later mailings... but early ones have this error.  The PDFs on the CD are indeed for the 2010 "Body Forward" challenge.   We would recommend using a sharpie or similar to correct the label so that  (particularly for the non-rookies out there), later, you don't mistake this for a real 2009 CD [#9698].

We would recommend teams that can meet before Kickoff (9/3) do these things:

  1. Have the team build the field setup kit!  This is likely to take more than one meeting. And note that the individual bags of pieces have no real relationship to the models being built.    To build a specific model, you will likely need  parts for most of the bags.
  2. Start having the team looking into "What is BioMedical Engineering" as a field.  What are the many different areas.  Remember don't get too attached or too focused on any specific topic or subject until after the Challenge project details are released.
  3. Start some teamwork activities  - make them fun !
  4. Start learning the software and how to use sensors.  Both the retail and educational software versions have tutorials/training materials included  - turn these into  fun "mini-challenges"
  5. Figure out team's meeting schedule and get this on everyone's family calendar!

Here are more ideas.   We welcome your input on the community site  (Blog - need to be logged in to see/add comments).      What is your team doing now?
