Below is the advancement order for each tournament as of 12/6/21.
The table represents the advancement order criteria as listed in section 6.2 of the FIRST Tech Challenge Game Manual Part 1 – Remote Events. Data is as reported from the Scoring System Software. Presence of your team in the list below is NOT an indication of your team’s status in terms of advancement to the NorCal Regional Championship, merely an indication of your team’s position in the advancement order for an individual qualifying tournament.
For the 2021 season, there are many uncertainties and we have not stabilized on a size for our regional championship tournament yet. Until we do, we will not know what percentage of teams from each qualifying tournament will advance. Advancement counts will be determined by applying a uniform percentage to each tournament, based on the number of teams that registered/competed at each qualifying tournament. Any fractions will be truncated.
Any regional championship slots not filled by the initial allocations will be filled via a tournament lottery.
We believe we will host a regional championship with at least 40-48 teams, but the final size will depend on the number of teams that register/compete this year. Typically, we strive to host approximately 30-35% of our teams at our regional championship.
Update: 2/2/22 – below are the initial allocations based on a 44-team championship. If your team is “next” in the list in any of the events, we would recommend NOT taking your robot apart.
We set the size at 44 teams in an attempt to keep the event below the “500 attendee” limit that the state has set for “mega events”.
Update 2/14/22 – The state will be adjusting the “mega event” threshold to 1000 attendees on Feb 16th. Based on this we are increasing the size of the NorCal FTC Regional Championship to 48 teams. The event will not be open to the public and there will still be limits on the number of people per team that may attend the event. We are anticipating that the limit will be “student team members + some small number” .
The advancements below are based on a 48-team championship with traditional rounding applied. There will be one “lottery slot” drawn after all qualifying tournaments complete. One qualifying tournament will end up advancing one additional team based on the lottery draw.
Update 2/21/22 – all qualifying tournaments are now concluded. The lottery was performed this afternoon and the San Jose #2 event ended up being drawn. The results below now reflect the final allocations.
